Good Morning RVA, and Happy Easter!
These are exciting times at RVA Advisors, and much has happened since I reached out to you after we sold the last Olio location! With our new digs at the One South Realty building we’ve been able to get in front of all sorts of fascinating business owners and entrepreneurs. This place is a hotbed of forward-thinking agents, developers, business owners and makers, all of whom truly want to make a difference in Richmond. I’m proud to be among them.
One of the highlights of our recent work has been getting to know Brayden Pleasants, founder of Red Eye Cookie Company, among other ventures. This ambitious entrepreneur and business owner is 1/2 philosopher, 1/2 Marine drill sergeant and 1/2 numbers whiz… yes, he’s a big guy, and makes a mean cookie! Their baked treats are all made to order and delivered within just a few minutes of being freshly baked, complete with ice-cold milk and/or piping hot coffee. Never has it been easier to get sugar and caffeine into your body just when you need them. Which, if you’re like me, is always.
We’ve also been doing some work that I can only describe as “frenetic” with Ann Schweitzer of RVA Spaces. Ann is one of the fastest moving and hardest working folks in commercial leasing, and I’ve never seen anyone in that field who cares as much about her customers. If you want to stay tied in to some of the more cutting edge and interesting happenings in RVA, do yourself a favor and follow her on social media… it’s a kaleidoscope of Richmond goings-on. And if you’re looking for commercial space in hard-to-access neighborhoods, look no further than Ann.
I would be remiss if I didn’t mention Kevin Clay and hisBig Spoon Agency. Kevin and company are foodservice industry marketing people who are SERIOUSLY into the RVA dining scene. I thought I was tied into that scene, but Kevin puts me to shame! He’s worked with Fire, Flour and Fork, Agriberry and Gelati Celesti, to name a few, and is a good man with a great work ethic. He’s also AFFORDABLE! If you need some ideas on how to put butts in seats look him up!
Finally, and not to be outdone by my overachieving friends and clients, I FINALLY finished a project 14 years in the making and passed the Real Estate Exam! Although I’ve been investing in real estate for years, I’m not yet sure what I plan to do with my new-found certification. But I AM sure it will involve many requests from friends to sell their houses for zero compensation whatsoever. Not to mention adding yet another service to the RVA Advisors menu.
Until next time, my entrepreneurial friends, in the immortal words of John Fitzgerald Kennedy, “Only those who dare to fail miserably can achieve greatly.”
